The Armed Services Institute (ASI) arranges its work in a way that mostly mirrors the six functional areas of the defense acquisition system:

  • Financial Management and Cost Estimating;
  • Contracting;
  • Engineering and Technical Management;
  • Life Cycle Logistics;
  • Program Management;
  • Test and Evaluation.

ASI also undertakes special topics of study in collaboration with industry partners such as the Thomson Reuters Special Services Project on Gray Zone Warfare

Capt. Duane Mallicoat (USN retired) provides leadership and coordinates the work of the six functional areas.
